ATTESTATION/AUTHENTICATION OF DOCUMENTS

The High Commission of Ghana also provides the services of Authentication of Documents that emanates from Ghana government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to the general public. You can visit the Consular Section between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday to access this service.

The High Commission is closed to the public on all public holidays in Malta and Ghana.

TRAVEL CERTIFICATES

The High Commission issues Emergency Travel Certificate to ONLY Ghanaian Nationals for One-Way travel to Ghana. It is for single use as immigration officers at the Ghanaian point of entry would keep the certificate.

DUAL CITIZENSHIP (COMING SOON!)

NOTICE FOR ALL DUAL CITIZENSHIP APPLICANTS

The Ministry of Interior wishes to bring to the attention of all prospective Dual Citizenship applicants that, any applicant who had no primary Ghanaian Citizenship as at 31st December 1996 is not qualified to be registered as a Dual Citizen of Ghana.

This policy is in line with the existing laws of Ghana namely: The 1992 Constitution of Ghana and the Citizenship Act 591 of 2002.

Individuals in the above category can, however, apply to the Ministry of Interior directly for Right of Abode under Section 17 of the Immigration Act 573 (2000), which will enable them have almost all the rights and privileges of a Dual Citizen.

In accordance with the Citizenship Act of 2002 (Act 591), Ghanaians who have acquired Maltese Citizenship are eligible to apply for Dual Citizenship.

GUIDELINES

Applicants are required to complete a Dual Nationality Application Form. The Form has to be fully completed before submission to the High Commission for onward delivery to the Ministry of Interior in Accra for processing.

A completed application is to be accompanied by:

  1. A photocopy of Maltese Naturalization Certificate/Maltese Passport
  2. Six Passport size photographs
  3. Evidence of Ghanaian Nationality (Parent’s nationality – photocopy of passport/Birth Certificate/Voter’s ID Card/Ghanaian Passport)
  4. Contact telephone numbers of applicant
  5. Names and addresses of two relatives residing in Ghana
  6. Photocopy of the receipt issued when the application form was purchased

On acquiring the Dual Citizenship status, a holder will be entitled to apply for a Ghanaian Passport in addition to the Maltese Passport.

A holder of Dual Citizenship will be permitted to remain in Ghana without limitation if the person entered the country on a Ghana Passport.

It is an offence however, for a Dual Citizenship holder to use two passports interchangeably to deceive an immigration officer.
